I love how you're seeing this, Abe. Filling your mother's life with wonder as she did for you as a child is such a beautiful aspiration. Take care, and best of the new year to you.
All your sharings are meaningful - who knows when we may be in need of a caring partner or need to be one. All insight is special. Thank you for sharing your gift.
I want to know what is important to you, what you care about, how you care. Bring all of you to this and we’ll be here to bear witness and revel in your journey together.
I love every and whatever words you choose to gift us. Along with the art and prompts. Your post have given me solace, inspiration, gentle laughter and many times pause for reflection - slow down, find stillness, pay attention, savor joy, go deep and, find breath. Oh, and I have so much affection for your mother, a woman I've never met.
Dear Abriel! You are an iridescent wonder and I am hungry for all your words, including your heart-opening chronicles of your journey with your mom. You are always an inspiration.💚
At first I thought no, just the poems, please. I was feeling the weight of my own journeys down the caregiver road. Yet, as I continued to read your words, my feelings began to lighten and rearrange themselves. What a lovely experience. Thank you so much for that.
I love reading this story of the adventure you and your mother are sharing. What precious work for both of you. I chose to be with my mother during what looked like was going to be the last part of her life. Everything fascinated me. It gave me the chance to reciprocate with all the care she had given me over sixty-three years and to give her the chance to know that she had gotten her work done with me. It became a book, The Living In Her Dying, How a mother and daughter came to know each other and themselves so the mother could die and the daughter could live. Please continue to share whatever moves you. It's all poetry!
Hi Abe--I love the poems and prompts you post--so I hope you keep doing that. But I would also be very interested in reading about your adventures with your mother as her care partner. My wife has alzheimers and has been living in memory care since July, so I am learning to care for her at more of a distance than when we were living together. I visit every day.
It occurs to me that the life you are living with your mom right now IS poetry. ❤️

Write about whatever moves you, I reckon.
