Raised in the part of this country with rich deep black dirt, I still remember its musky smell and the wriggly worms that joined every damp crumbly handful. I now live in the land of sand and cacti. The small rocks are brown and many in each handful of dry reddish dusty dirt. No judging, I love them both. Thank you for the loving focus on the dirt beneath our feet.
